United Against Poverty Orlando
ODTUG Kscope18 dedicates time to help hungry families in Orlando
JUNE 9, 2018 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
ODTUG Kscope is a singularly unique event in Oracle user group conferences. One reason is our signature Community Service Day project, where ODTUG Kscope attendees give back to the community we are visiting.
This year, ODTUG has partnered with UP Orlando for our community service day project. UP Orlando provides crisis care, case management, transformative education, food and household subsidy, employment training and placement, personal empowerment training and active referrals to other collaborative social service providers to all people living in poverty and seeking to improve their situation. UP Orlando uses all these tools to provide a hand UP to the 180,000 people dealing with hunger in Orange County, Florida.
ODTUG Kscope attendees will be working in the Member Grocery Center, where UP Orlando’s members can shop for 60-70% off regular grocery store prices. Their membership is free and is open to low-income households. We’ll be unpacking in the warehouse, breaking down boxes, stocking and cleaning shelves, and possibly helping them with computer updates. This is going to be a very rewarding experience for our participants and we are excited to help.
If you want to join ODTUG Kscope in giving back to this truly amazing organization, sign up today! Space is limited.
Support ODTUG Community Service Day
UP Orlando depends on generous individuals and community-minded companies to fund its programs and help feed the people they serve. UP Orlando staff members are needed to assist in the onsite activities for the Community Service Day project; food is needed to keep our volunteers energized, and transportation costs need to be covered.
No donation is too small!
Companies or individuals donating more than $300 by May 1, 2018, will have their names or logos placed on the back of the official ODTUG Kscope18 Community Service Day T-shirt.

About Up Orlando
UP Orlando was founded in 2001 to notice the hundreds of thousands of people in need who were going unnoticed in Central Florida. At the time, there was not a widespread definition of the population we have now come to know as the working poor, but it was clear that those in need did not embody the traditional characteristics of poverty. These were not the individuals standing at the intersection asking for help; they were those who were silently struggling.
What kind of activities will there be at Community Service Day?
There will be mostly indoor activities for all skill levels; this will be a project that truly anyone can participate in, including kids.
How can I sign up?
Sign up when you register for ODTUG Kscope18, or if you are already registered, log back in to your registration and select the Community Service Day option. If you can’t participate due to travel plans, you can make a donation in support of UP Orlando here.
