By now you know that nominations for the ODTUG Board are open through Wednesday, September 25, 2019 at 11:59 p.m. PDT. We are looking for a few great people (five to be exact) to enrich our ODTUG Board for the 2020 term.
Do you have a passion for Oracle technology—learning and mastering the latest and helping others do the same? Have you participated in ODTUG activities—meetups, webinars, ODTUG Kscope, Kathleen McCasland Community Service Days? If so, you know the value of user groups in general, and ODTUG specifically—for learning, networking, and overall career growth. You know the value of ODTUG connections and the roll-up-your-sleeves-and-learn vibe of our ODTUG events.
All this does not happen entirely by magic—it takes a team of active, dedicated volunteers to make all this possible. One facet of our volunteer network is our Board of Directors. The ODTUG Board has the challenge of setting ODTUG’s direction for our day-to-day activities—webinars, meetups, and many, many unseen things that happen behind the scenes. The board also provides guidance for our ODTUG Kscope Conference Committee.
I can tell you that being an ODTUG volunteer for many years was one level of service that prepared me for being a board member. Actually being a board member is another dimension of service. And that work yields intangible rewards: great friends, great connections, increased insight into Oracle technology trends, plus a whole lot more that is impossible to put into words. For me, the value gained personally and professionally is definitely worth the investment.
This is an important time for ODTUG—we need a strong, dedicated board for the coming years to guide our members through Oracle’s ever-evolving technology stack. This year it is Autonomous, Analytics, APEX-everywhere, and emerging technologies like blockchain, ML, and AI. Next year, who knows?
Do you have what it takes, or know someone who does? Please fill out this nomination form. As a reminder, to run for office and/or vote in the election, your membership must be paid and up-to-date no later than September 30, 2019. Not a member? Join ODTUG today.
Tempted, but have more questions? Email me (Karen@odtug.com), and I will provide as much information as possible.
We need a few good ODTUG members to join us on the ODTUG Board—why not you?
Best wishes, and Happy Coding,
Karen Cannell, ODTUG Secretary
For those not ready to be a board member, we have plenty of other ways to volunteer. Our communities—APEX, Analytics, Database, and EPM—are always looking for people to help out with meetings, meetups, and webinars. This is a great way to give back to the ODTUG community.
