From Our ODTUG Kscope19 Partners at Alithya - Keys to the Kingdom: Key Concepts to Account Reconciliation Cloud Application Design
 ACEAss-01.pngNick Boronski,
Alithya

With Account Reconciliation  now included in both the Standard and Enterprise baskets of EPM cloud goodies, the temptation is to tear the packaging and start building. However, even Close & Consolidation experts can have trouble bridging the knowledge gap between more familiar applications (e.g., HFM, Financial Consolidation and Close, etc.) and Oracle’s “one-stop shop” reconciliation tool. Incorrect assumptions made early on in the application design can be troublesome later as the project rolls on. Instead, provide your company with a strong foundation by having a firm grasp on functionality, best practice recommendations, and setups for scalability.

In this webinar, we will discuss how to elicit actionable requirements, review overlooked out-of-the-box functionality, and account for key design concepts in order to establish a strategic enterprise solution for both today and “tomorrow”—giving you the keys to the kingdom!

What will be the impact on data extraction strategy once Extended Analytic (EA) is discontinued from HFM in the next release and in the FCCS 19.06 release? The new feature in Data Management is “Data Export to File.”

In this webinar, we will talk about data extraction strategy from HFM/FCCS using FDMEE/ Data Management, as HFM is the book of record and this data is to be loaded in different outbound systems.

Learning Objectives:

  • How “Custom Application” can be used to extract data from HFM/FCCS
  • What is "Data Export to File" option from FCCS 19.06
  • Migration of existing "custom target" application approach to "Data Export to File" option in FCCS

Join us to explore the journey of data from consolidation tool to external systems!

Critical Pre-Flight Checks for Business Systems

Chuck Czajkowski,
Datavail

The environment which houses your business critical EPM applications is complex. Maybe as complex as the cockpit of an aircraft. Just as a pilot might not be able to build or fix everything on their plane, you might be using applications but not know how to build or fix everything that’s being used. This shouldn’t stop you from doing a pre-flight check to ensure that all your Hyperion systems are running properly and set for you and your end users. Let’s talk about some different strategies to achieve this and give you the confidence in your systems so that you can know when things are running well—or more importantly, when they need attention before takeoff.

Powerful: Practical Machine Learning In The Hands Of The DBA

 ACE Director.jpg Craig Shallahamer,
OraPub

Powerful Machine Learning (ML) is upon us. As Oracle DBAs, it is now our turn to leverage ML, enabling us to do things never before possible. But it's not that simple. There is a lot to learn. Everything from methodology to math to tools. And then the nagging question of, as a DBA, is there a real application in my work?

The good news is, classic ML applications match our analysis use cases, and we have access to a ton of performance data; powerful number-crunching machines sit on our desktops and ML software is 100% free. It's the perfect setup!

So, in this presentation I'm going to introduce you to the world of ML from a DBA perspective. This includes understanding what ML is, why you should use it, and why now. I will lead you through two use cases, each using a different ML algorithm. The first at a high level and the second at a detailed level.

Our future is not AWR or even ASH analysis! Now is the time for Oracle DBAs to step into the world of ML because it is powerful, practical, and enables us to do things we have never been able to do before.

Oracle Spatial Studio: Fast and Easy Spatial Analytics and Maps

Carol Palmer
and David Lapp, Oracle Corporation

In this session, we'll share a new tool, Spatial Studio, which lets you quickly and easily do spatial analytics and create maps, even if you don't have GIS or spatial knowledge. Now business users and non-GIS developers have a simple user interface to access the spatial features in Oracle Database.

We’ll show you through step-by-step demos how to prepare your data for spatial analysis, perform spatial analysis operations, publish, and share the results. You will also learn how to access spatial analyses results via REST and incorporate them in applications and workflows.

Carol Palmer, senior principal product manager, and David Lapp, senior principal product manager, will present. This will be an interactive session where you can share questions and comments with the presenters.

  SQL Through the Ages
  Chris Saxon,

Oracle Corporation

In the past fifty years data storage has transformed from punched cards that could barely hold 80 characters to cloud-based servers that count storage units in terabytes. This session will chart the history of data storage, from the birth of the relational model in the '70s to the rise of NoSQL solutions in the 2000s and the subsequent return to SQL in the 2010s. Throughout this time, relational databases have continued to evolve. A key enhancement is adding support for NoSQL style JSON storage. This session will finish with a demo of "SQL magic," showing how you can combine the best of flexible JSON storage with SQL's query capabilities, giving guidelines to help developers work effectively with data in the modern era.
