To receive the credit attendees must be a Full (paid) ODTUG member, attend the entire webinar and answer all poll questions that will pop up on-screen during the webinar, and fill out the evaluation form (with your name) that will pop up on-screen immediately after the webinar.

This webinar is the first of a five part series on configuring the EPBCS business processes including; Financials, Strategic Modeling, Capital, Workforce, and Projects.  Check ODTUG’s webinar schedule often for dates for the rest of the series.

Out of the box, the EPBCS Financials module “includes a robust, complete chart of accounts to get you up and running quickly.” But what does that actually mean? You implement features by selecting from dozens of options in the Enable Features screens. That triggers creation of outline structures, web forms and business rules. But, how do you know the implications of your selections?

In this webcast we will examine the most significant sections of the Enable Features screens and trace their impact on the resulting Planning artifacts. We will answer the questions, “What happens if I click this?” and, “I need feature X. What do I need to click?”

Learning objectives for this session include:

  • Configure your plan to use your own custom Chart of Accounts (BYCOA)
  • Configure your plan to use best practice driver based budgeting accounts
  • Configure your plan to combine your own custom chart of accounts with out of the box accounts
  • Configure Direct or Indirect Cash Flow Statements

Today’s world is all about autonomy. We have autonomous cars, houses, databases and even operational systems. If everything is being automated, what work is left for us? The answer is simple: it’s time for us to build our own robots! We are going to introduce to you the concepts on how to build an A-IOS, which is a set of automated ODI ETL processes that are able to consume any number of inbound interfaces into a data lake and produce any number of outbound results based on a self-service approach driven mostly by data analysts.

This session talks about the necessary steps, starting from the base concepts, going through overall architecture, and finishing with the possible approaches to consume and deliver different kinds of data to final users. We are going to share a use case that is daily ingesting 480+ source data elements and producing 140+ KPI metrics using only two robots created with ODI.

ODI ETL engine serves as a base for our robots as it contains all the knowledge and rules to automatically consume new sources into the data lake. Data analysts can easily produce any number of new KPI information with minimum, or in most cases no, IT intervention, providing them extreme flexibility to change business rules as needed.

Learning Objectives:

  • Attendees will understand the benefits of inbound/outbound data automation for an organization with real examples.
  • Attendees will see various examples of how to construct different automated ETL architectures which may be used in different kinds of projects.
  • Attendees will learn how to create modularized ODI robots that are created for specific purposes and may interact with each other.

Oracle Enterprise Manager: Seven Robust Features to Put in Action

Rakesh Nagdev,
Datavail

Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) brings your Oracle deployments together in a single management, monitoring, and automation dashboard. Oracle developed this solution, so it offers deep integration with many of its technologies. The ease of integration, coupled with the support of both on-premise and cloud-based Oracle databases, allows it to fit into many enterprise infrastructures. Oracle Enterprise Manager can also monitor and manage non-Oracle databases, making it a cost-effective and central tool to manage IT environments with a mix of database platforms.

The single point of control is appealing for complex enterprise infrastructures, especially when they’re heavily invested in Oracle technologies. Out-of-the-box monitoring and reporting templates cover many common use cases, and simplifies the configuration of management automation for databases, applications, and more.

This presentation takes on a brief history of OEM and then does a deep dive into seven robust features organizations should consider implementing:

1. Intelligent Incident Compression (Smart Alerting)
2. Chief Job Support
3. Always-ON Monitoring
4. Notification Blackouts
5. System Broadcast
6. Export & Import Incident Rule Sets
7. Metric Enhancements

Secure and Flexible Oracle Analytics on Any Data by Integrating Autonomous Database with Data Lake
 ACE.png Holger Friedrich,
sumIT AG

Nowadays we need to run analytics on all kinds of data. This includes flexible formats and semi-structured data from data lakes as well as curated data from relational databases. A great way to access these different types of data sets and sources with Oracle Analytics is by integrating a flexible, scalable (object) storage layer with the powerful Oracle database engine. This works especially well in the cloud, using OAC on top of the Autonomous Data Warehouse service. The key to all of this is the clever use of (partitioned) Oracle External Tables. In this presentation we will discuss the integration of OAC, ADB, and Object Storage from an architecture point of view, as well as the technical implementation. Demos will show the elegance of the approach, the great performance, and its security benefits.
